Financial Aid Online Brochure
Paying for College
"How am I going to pay for college?"
Our students combine federal and state aid, institutional and private awards, personal savings and employment to pay for school. This online brochure is an introduction to Federal, State and Institutional Aid.
Student Eligibility Requirements
- Generally have financial need (Cost of education minus family contribution = financial need.)
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be enrolled at CCC.
- Continue to make satisfactory academic progress toward your degree.
- Not be in default on a student loan.
- Sign the appropriate forms and statements provided by the CCC Financial Aid Office.
FAFSA: The First Step
FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is the financial aid application for federal grants and student loan programs as well as aid at California Christian College. It is free to fill out and submit. For detailed instructions of FAFSA as for the FAFSA brochure or visit www.fafsa.ed.gov and follow the instructions. To fill out the FAFSA, you will need your previous years income taxes (and your parents or guardians if you are under the age of 24.) You can file the FAFSA after January 1st.
Federal Aid Programs
- Pell Grants: Funded by the Federal government, these awards are based on the level of need as determined by the Expected Family Contribution (EFC). EFC is determined by the Department of Education based on your FAFSA. You must be enrolled for a minimum of 3 semester hours to be eligible.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG): This grant is for students who have extreme financial need. At CCC, this is awarded as an institutional scholarship.
Student Loan Programs
Student Loans are low interest loans. They are an affordable way to help pay for college. Loans are not grants or free money and must be repaid. Check with our Financial Aid department for current loan interest information.
Students must be enrolled for a minimum of six semester units to qualify for a student loan.
- Stafford Loan Program: Subsidized loans allow students to borrow money and not enter repayment until six months after they graduate or drop below half time status. The federal government pays the interest while you are in school.
- Unsubsidized Loans: Students may find that they need additional assistance in paying for school. After you graduate or drop below half time, you enter repayment.
- PLUS Loans: These loans are available to parents of students who are assisting in paying for college. These loans are not deferred and parents must start repaying 60 days after the loan is dispersed. The benefit of this loan is that it is most likely at a lower interest rate than you normally would get at a bank.
California Programs
- CAL-Grant: For residents of California only. This is a grant that is applied to tuition and fees.
